Week 2 Assignment: Ethical Decision-Making Interview Summary Instructions and Grading Rubric

Assignment Rationale:

Please refer to the syllabus to determine what percentage this assignment is of your final course grade. The purpose of this assignment is for each student to have the opportunity to interview a healthcare professional to discuss the importance of transparent relationships among healthcare professionals, what can be done to improve relationships among healthcare professional, and how those relationships might make a difference in the ethical decision-making process.  

Assignment Objective:

After reading the assigned textbook chapters, choose one case study (for example, Chapter 4’s “A Son’s Guilt, a Father’s Wishes.” Share the case study with a healthcare professional, colleague, family member, or classmate. Use the case study to start a conversation with the healthcare professional about what can be done to improve professional relationships with one another, and to improve professional relationships between caregivers and patients/clients. Conclude the discussion with a conversation about the , and the functions of ethics committees. Use what you learn during the conversation to answer the provided questions and complete an Ethical Decision-Making Report Form, meeting the required elements of the rubric with 80% accuracy. (LO 2, 3, 5, 6, 7)

Assignment Instructions:

  1. Read case study.
  2. Share the case study with a healthcare professional, colleague, family member, or classmate of your choice.
  3. Discuss the specifics of the case study including its relevance to: 1) professional relationships among healthcare professionals, 2) objective and subjective facts, 3) ethical and therapeutic considerations, and 4) a reflection about the outcome or potential outcome.
  4. Effectively communicate a well-constructed, thoughtful, organized summary of the conversation.  
  5. The submitted document should be APA formatted and include:
