This assignment will require you to identify a current e relevant to your specialization area, and research two policy briefs or policy positions from differing sources, with differing views. For example, when Congress was considering renewing the SNAP program, think-tanks (e.g., Heritage Foundation and Center for American Progress) defined the policy content from a very unique lenses.

Instructions

You will submit a paper that addresses the following: · Describe the social policy issue that is being presented and summarize how the issue is being framed by each source. · Compare the content of the contrasting position papers, identify key arguments advanced. · Discuss the policy solutions presented (or if none included, provide suggestions). · Indicate how the group supports its recommendations or assertions (anecdote, rhetoric, evidence, etc.). · Address and analyze how the social policy solutions are consistent (or not) with social work values as outlined in the NASW Code of Ethics. Must include the following: · Summary of social problem the policy addresses (include a brief history of efforts, currently who is impacted, what disparities exist) · Key components of the contrasting position papers · Gaps · Assess the influence, rate the sources, etc. · Alignment with NASW Code of Ethics Formatting and Length · All papers should follow general APA formatting rules (omit title paper). · The paper should be 3-5 pages long. · Use of headers that correspond to each point are highly recommended. · In addition to the above criteria, 10% of your grade on this will be based on the presentation of your ideas (e.g., formatting, editing, grammar, etc.) Your reference list should include proper citation (APA 7th edition) of all sources used for this paper. · Your reference list should include proper citation of all sources used for this paper.
