CRJ 2060 Research Project
Choose one of the following topics to conduct research and write a paper in APA format. Some of the topics are very broad so you will need to narrow them down before writing the paper. See rubric in Blackboard.
1. Choose 2 of the following theories and compare/contrast them; discuss pros and cons: Classical School, Biological Theory, Psychological Theory, Social Structure Approach, Social Process Theories,
Social Conflict Theories
- What is and what do criminologists do?,
- The death penalty (Different views, different forms of execution, etc),
- Diet and Behavior,
- Genetics and crime,
- Gender differences in criminality,
- Mental illness and crime,
- Insanity/guilty but mentally ill,
- Does media, tv, video games, social media, affect crime or cause people to commit crime?
- Does social class/economics/education affect crime?
- White collar crime
- Organized crime
- Choose a serial killer. You may discuss their background, psychopathy, anti-social personality disorder, mental illness, or any opther theory that may have affected the person you chose and caused them to commit crime. Examples: Gary Ridgway, Ted Bundy, David Berkowitz, Charles Manson, etc.
- Choose between a public order crime or drug crime. Discuss what they are and are they victimless crimes. If it’s not a victimless crime, who is affected?
- Technology and crime
- Terrorism (Domestic or )
